Caldwell felt that Snoopy "was under no circumstances an entire participant while in the tangle of relationships that drove Peanuts in its Golden Age", as he could not talk. He went on to state that Snoopy "was way much too shallow for that strip as it produced in the nineteen sixties, as well as strips he highlighted in were being anomalies."[42]
